Lavras, state of Minas Gerais is a mid-size (100,000 population) university town (five universities) with some light industry on the outskirts. There's a variety of restaurants. Many of which specialize in Minas Gerais food. The town is situated away from the hustle and expense of the large Coastal Cities (Rio, São Paulo, and Salvador). It has quiet atmosphere to concentrate on language learning without the distractions and complicantions of a large city.
Our city is also located near the Circuit of the Waters—a series of spas in the state of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It it is connected by highway to the state capital, Belo Horizonte (230 Km), to São Paulo (370 Km) and to Rio de Janeiro (420 Km). Our city is really calm and we have no violence.
